Our Story
A Law Firm Built on Family
The story of Cohen, Snyder & Eisenberg, P.A. begins more than six decades ago, but it isn’t simply the story of a law firm.
It is a story about family, loyalty, perseverance, and taking care of people when they need you most.
In the early 1960s, Stanley Cohen began practicing law in Baltimore, building a practice representing individuals in criminal matters and the everyday legal problems that affected their lives.
Then Stanley became seriously ill.
Faced with his son’s illness and a family that still needed to be supported, Stanley’s father, Gee M. Cohen, made an extraordinary decision.
At approximately 60 years old, Gee went to law school.
He earned his law degree, passed the Maryland Bar, and joined the practice his son had started—helping ensure that the firm could continue and that Stanley’s family would be taken care of.
That decision became part of the foundation of the firm we are today.
The Next Generation
In the late 1970s, Mark Snyder and Bruce Eisenberg joined the practice, helping build and expand the firm while carrying forward the commitment to personal representation on which it had been founded.
Alex Katzenberg joined the firm in 1981, shortly before Stanley Cohen passed away in December of that year. The practice would eventually become known as Cohen, Snyder, Eisenberg & Katzenberg, P.A.
Over the decades that followed, the names and practice areas evolved, but the firm’s fundamental purpose remained remarkably consistent: representing people—not corporations or insurance companies—when something important in their lives was at stake.
That legacy continues today as Cohen, Snyder & Eisenberg, P.A.
Another Generation
In 2011, Erin Snyder joined the firm.
A former Anne Arundel County prosecutor, Erin brought her own courtroom experience to a practice that had already been serving Maryland families for generations. Her arrival also marked another chapter in a firm whose history has always been deeply connected to family.
Today, CSE represents injured workers, accident victims, and individuals facing criminal and traffic matters throughout Maryland.
Some Things Haven’t Changed
The firm has grown. The law has changed. Technology has transformed the way cases are handled. But some things haven’t changed.

We believe preparation matters.
A Level Playing Field
We believe insurance companies and large organizations should not be able to overwhelm an individual simply because they have greater resources.
And before giving a client advice, we try to answer one simple question:
“Would I tell my own family to do this?”
Because that is ultimately where the story of this firm began.
With a father willing to go to law school at approximately 60 years old because his son was sick and his family needed him.
More than six decades later, that idea— that you take care of people when they need you —still defines Cohen, Snyder & Eisenberg.
